Flickr Gallery Operational

Using instructions for integrating the Falbum plugin with the K2 mobile theme I have been able to link my Flickr gallery into the blog. Please have a browse over to the gallery which is a direct feed from my Flickr account. There were some minor changes required to the K2 header and an additional falbum.php file was required in the K2 theme folder. I failled to get it to use friendly URL’s but at least the link up is working.
Summary:

falbum is a plugin for Wordpress created by RandomByte. Download falbum for flickr integration from the RandomByte web site.

How Does this Wordpress site Work?

I use a combination of Wordpress for the core blog with the K2 mobile theme providing a template framework, which has some AJAX features for ease of use. The orginal default Wordpress theme was designed by Michael Heilemann and he is now the lead on K2. Michael can be found on his website Binari Bonsai. I have yet to decide on a gallery system other than using Flickr for storage and linking back here via RSS or using the Flickr API with the Tantannoodles Wordpress Flickr plugin. I am still working on getting the API link working for Tantannoodles.

Summary:

Wordpress is a PHP based blog which uses a mySQL backend to store news and configuration.
K2 is the theme uploaded into Wordpress providing the look and feel of this blog.
Flickr will provide the gallery.

Welcome to me.

Just pulled together a new blog machine. After years spent searching for a blog or news system that would integrate a gallery, news, blog and forum I have settled on the excellent Wordpress. I have run sites with Ikonboard, Pmachine, PHPNuke, Postnuke, Mambo and a bunch of technology inbetween. This is a new fresh slate for posting news, views, images and any other stuff I feel excited about.

GZG Kra’Vak 15mm Models - Paint job Complete

Just finished these little 15mm tall chaps. This time I have included a 25mm figure in one of the photos - just for a scale comparison.

Kravak 15mm Painted Figures

I tried to achieve a very dark armour with high shine value to reflect the stealth camo aspect of the suits. I did this by putting very bright highlights over a dark green base. Not sure of the result, but they stand out on the table and that’s my style. The flesh tones are a mix of green and brown dotting to give them that mottled look. The raised facial areas took a very light brush of pale blue grey to bring out the detail.

I really like the new 15mm from GZG, they are slightly “squat” looking but the detail and clean style makes up for the hunky look. 15mm is so much faster to paint - I actually get a set of 8 done in a week (3-4 painting sessions) instead of the usual one 25mm figure.
